Do I need to use a primer for prepping?Updated 3 months ago
Our paint has a very high pigment content, which means a primer isn’t generally required. However, there are certain situations where using a primer may be beneficial to achieve the best results.
For example, if you’re painting a surface that has been freshly plastered or plastered within the last two years, the walls are likely to be more porous. Applying a primer first will help to seal the surface and ensure a smoother, more even finish when you add the paint.
Additionally, if the surface has previously been painted with distemper, it’s worth using a primer.
You can prepare your walls for primer by lightly washing any existing paintwork to remove dust or surface laitance. Once this is done, apply one coat of primer and let it dry. For the best results and the most impactful color, we recommend using a water-based primer, such as Zinsser Bulls Eye.
It’s also a good idea to consult your installer for advice.
